The communications specialist will support the International Programe Office (IPO) of the World Data System (WDS) situated at UT-Oak Ridge Innovation Institute (UT-ORII). The WDS focus is on sustainability, trust in, and quality of open scientific data services, products, and information. The communications specialist will lead communications activities with internal and external stakeholders for participation and fund raising. The communications specialist will be a full-time employee of the University of Tennessee and shall report to the WDS-IPO Executive Director.

Job Duties:

Plan and manage communications functions (blog posts, social media, newsletters) across a diverse and international community interested in scientific research data stewardship. Participate in the planning and development of communication and marketing strategies.

Support outreach and promotional activities through content and campaign creation. Develop key metrics for assessment

Maintain website. Ensures consistency and branding standards are met.

','!*!REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or a related area required.

Master's degree in communications, marketing, or a related area preferred.

Required level/type of experience:

bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Knowledge of the research data landscape

• Customer service skills.

Competencies/Qualifications:

• demonstrate ability to communicate with multiple audiences.

• be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

• skills in industry-standard software.

• effectively manage projects and prioritize work to meet deadlines.

• develop and implement creative solutions to communication problems.
