Join the fast-paced, hands-on External Communications team at the Fortune 100 company and the nation’s leading consumer electronics retailer. As a member of the external communications team, you will work closely and collaboratively with leaders and colleagues throughout the organization to drive the business, manage reputation, and build brand love. This position will have the opportunity to work closely with national and local news outlets and create news-making opportunities.
This role lives within the broader Communications and Public Affairs team at Best Buy. As a member of the team, you’ll have the opportunity to learn and refine a variety of skills, including media relations, content creation, reputation management, building relationships and more.
Two roles are available:
Corporate Communications - This position supports the external communications planning and execution for corporate communications and ESG
Consumer Communications - This position supports the external communications planning and execution for consumer communications and local media relations
Both roles have the following responsibilities:
This role will work collaboratively with the team to execute media relations strategies and foster relationships with select media members, external partners, and various internal stakeholders.
Assist with planning and executing media relations tactics, including writing content, creating media lists, preparing materials and more.
This role with support a variety of communications functions while learning and growing their communications skills.
Additionally, the Consumer Communications Specialist will assist with responding to and working with stores on media relations needs, including local crises, reactive inquiries, media training and more.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in journalism, public relations, communications, marketing or related field
2 years professional writing/journalism/storytelling experience
2 years demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work and collaborate well with peers, managers and business partners while also working individually
1 years experience writing/working with AP style guidelines
Preferred Qualifications:
1 years of media relations or news experience
1 years social media experience, including understanding current best practices and emerging trends in social media, in addition to developing and implementing content across a variety of platforms, including but not limited to LinkedIn and Twitter
1 year project management or editorial planning experience
1 year demonstrated ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and be detail oriented
1 year experience working with a consumer-facing brand
1 year copy editing skills
This position will be located in Richfield, MN and will be in a hybrid work model 2-3 days per week on campus.
