Job Summary

The Communications Specialist builds effective and compelling internal and external communications campaigns (including communications drafting, social media strategy and execution, digital editorial calendar programming for ongoing Xfinity On Demand and digital features, graphic design/creative, and photography curation/editorial), to support the Local Media Development team's strategy, platforms, and programming. Candidate must have proven writing experience for a range of audiences, including c-suite, employees, and consumers/general public. Background in social media strategy and visual communications/design required. The Local Media Development (LMD) team delivers purpose-driven public programming, annual corporate State & Local Investment Reports, campus content and experiences, and essential administrative communications to advance Comcast NBCUniversal's core values, local relationships, and influence.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

Supports - and is an integral member of - a highly dynamic and cross-functional communications team on a variety of internal and external communications tactics, often with tight deadlines.

Generates executive summaries, reports, decks, talking points, social media posts, articles, and writes for a variety of formats (including long-form through short-form).

Serves as key support for LMD's social media operations for the 'Voices of the Civil Rights Movement' and 'Comcast Newsmakers' platforms, including contributing to campaign strategies, copy, creative, and advertising execution on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and more. Serves as team go-to for social media and is responsible for analytics tracking, reporting, monitoring/listening and community management.

Serves as key content contributor/generator for internal social media platform Yammer.

Supports the creation of annual Comcast NBCUniversal State & Local Investment Reports, including photography research, vetting, rights clearances, and liaising with photo retouching vendor.

Liaises between the Communications, Production/Programming, Analytics, Campus Content, and Software Development divisions of Local Media Development throughout all stages of monthly and biweekly digital editorial processes across LMD digital properties. Responsible for developing, collaborating, and executing on digital editorial strategy (including featured content placement on web, and frequent check-ins with the Xfinity Editorial team).

Supports communications tactics for campus content and experience platforms, Comcast Campus App, and external and internal events.

Supports - and is a key stakeholder on - email newsletter campaign strategies and works to expand offerings to new (including external) audiences.

Creates online content and consistently checks for errors or issues (typos, broken links, thumbnail compliance, etc.), while ensuring deadlines are met.

Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.

Minimum Requirements:

2-5 years related experience required.

Bachelor's Degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or related field.

Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

Successful writing and editing experience with a variety of print, video, and online communications media.

Ability to effectively interface with senior management.

Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.

Excellent judgment, attention to detail, and creative problem-solving skills.
