About the Role
The Senior Director of Business Development is a member of the Company’s leadership team, reporting directly to the CEO. The person in this position is laser-focused on closing profitable business – developing new opportunities, securing contracts, and leading the process to acquire new clients through a consultative process. Ideally the person in this position will be located in Chicago, New York, Washington, D.C., or the Bay area, but location is not a prerequisite.

What You’ll Do
Generate new leads through targeted follow up of high value prospects in the marketing funnel
Qualify inbound leads and manage the sales cycle end-to end from initial contact through contracting
Develop new relationships through targeted prospecting, networking, and other proactive activities
Leverage the experience and expertise of the Company’s executives, managers and subject matter experts to develop recommendations aligned with a prospective client’s needs and opportunities
Lead the process of developing materials utilized in the sales cycle process including memos, presentations, proposals and contracts
Support engagement structure and pricing with business value analysis
Negotiate contracts in collaboration with your direct report
Adjust and implement overarching outbound sales and business development strategy, sales processes, structure, and best practices across the Company
Identify new opportunities and areas for growth based upon market-driven trends and client needs
Collaborate with your marketing counterpart and other team members to drive an integrated approach to sales and marketing
What You’ll Bring
A minimum of 10 years of relevant b2b business development experience in communications, marketing, and/or consulting or relevant professional services fields
Proven experience building trustworthy relationships with clients at all levels in Fortune 500-sized organizations
Exceptional consultative selling skills and success securing high value contracts in long sales cycles
Proven experience successfully achieving revenue targets
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to develop and deliver executive-level presentations
Fresh thinking and new ideas for creative, thought leadership-based approaches for developing new relationships
