Reporting directly to the Business Development Director, the Business Development Coordinator will support the firm’s business development and marketing efforts for specific practice areas under moderate supervision. The successful candidate must be a flexible, team player with great customer service skills and excellent communication capabilities, both written and oral. This is an ideal position for a career-oriented, self-starter with a willingness to take on more responsibilities with time and a commitment to “getting the job done.” The candidate must be able to manage multiple deadline driven assignments simultaneously. Duties for this position include, but are not limited to:
Job Functions:
Business Development/Client Teams
Support marketing and business development projects and initiatives, as they relate to Litigation and IP assigned Practice Groups.
Partners with BD Director and Practice Group Leaders, and partners to formulate, implement and monitor strategic business development initiatives including proposal preparation, client and prospective intelligence research, pipeline management, content development and distribution, and to identify cross-selling opportunities.
Lead the coordination of practice group and firm-wide events.
Develop pitches, proposals, presentations and other client-facing materials, including creating new content.
Maintain matters/experience lists and databases for assigned groups.
Research, evaluate, coordinate and monitor sponsorships, conferences/events, webinars and speaking opportunities based on strategic initiatives.
Help set agendas for and run group meetings.
Assist Business Development Director with follow-up and action items from client team meetings.
Lead onboarding and integration of lateral associate attorneys in the assigned groups and support onboarding of partner lateral attorneys.
Rankings/Surveys/Directories
Work with attorneys and BD/Marketing team to assemble and track rankings/surveys, including supervising Chambers nomination process.
Manage/oversee directory subscriptions, listings and submissions schedule.
Communications/Brand Visibility
Create, proofread and copyedit client-facing and internal marketing communications.
Manage the sourcing, writing, editing and placement of daily intranet “Difference Makers” entry.
Collaborate with communications team on public relations and publicity opportunities.
Coordinate with communications team on sponsorship and event-related advertisements.
Work with attorneys to identify and develop relevant and important topics for content initiatives.
Technology/Database Management
Coordinate with the Marketing Communications team and support the maintenance of all aspects of the firm’s CRM system and its integration with other databases and information tools utilized by the firm.
Support the maintenance of other business development and marketing tools as needed, including email software, pitch and proposal software, and other tracking databases.
Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree required; marketing/business/communications or other related degree a plus.
3-5 years of professional services experience required, with a minimum of 2 years Marketing or Business Development law firm experience.
Detail-oriented, organized and able to adapt to multiple shifting priorities in a deadline-driven, demanding work environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with professionals at all levels.
Reliable team player with a positive attitude and strong commitment to producing work of the highest quality.
Must be able to complete moderately complex assignments with little or no supervision and apply common sense understanding and innovative thinking to carry out instructions.
Proficiency with Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; knowledge of MS Access, website content management systems and CRM a plus.
Willing to work additional hours as needed.
Physical Requirements:
Must have minimal physical mobility. Position may occasionally require standing, walking, reaching, and lifting up to 15 pounds.
Must have the ability to operate equipment such as a computer and copy machine.
Must have the ability to communicate clearly and to read and follow detailed instructions.
Must have the ability to prepare assorted documents and other related materials.
Must have the ability to work in stressful conditions under time deadlines.
