General Description
The New Jersey Senate Republican Office (SRO) is seeking an energetic, proactive communications professional to join our SRO Communications team. This is an appointed, partisan staff position.
This position assists the Director of Communications with the day-to-day operations of SRO Communications to meet the writing, social media, and public relations needs of the sixteen Republican members of the New Jersey Senate.
Responsibilities
Drafting press releases, opinion pieces, talking points, speeches, and official correspondence for members.
Identifying media opportunities and developing messaging that aligns with the goals and objectives of the caucus and individual members.
Pitching stories to reporters, responding to media inquiries, and managing interview requests.
Assignment planning for SRO Communications staff for committee and session days.
Posting content to caucus website and social media accounts.
Assisting in the production of daily news clippings.
Completing other communications and media relations tasks as required.
Qualifications
Ideal candidate possesses the following qualifications
Bachelor's (Required)
A degree or related experience in communications, journalism, or public relations.
5 years of experience working for a government office, nonprofit or political organization, or business with writing and external communications responsibilities.
Excellent writing and editing skills, particularly under time constraints, along with the ability to write in different voices.
The ability to develop digital and traditional media strategies that leverage current events to achieve the communications and legislative objectives of members and the caucus.
A demonstrated record of success in generating earned media and social media engagement.
Experience and proficiency using a content management system (WordPress preferred).
Experience managing high profile or organizational social media accounts, and knowledge of related management tools (i.e. Tweetdeck).
Experience planning/producing video content would be a bonus.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain internal and external relationships with members, their staffs, the media, and others.
Work Environment
The position is based in the New Jersey State House in Trenton, NJ, and requires New Jersey residency within one year of start date. Hybrid work policy allows for remote work one day per week on a cooridinated office schedule.

Trenton, NJ 08625: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
