Carlson Capital, L.P. , a leader in the hedge fund industry for the last 29 years, is looking for a talented Investor Relations/Business Development Associate to join the Business Development and Investor Relations team in our Dallas, Texas office. This position will partner with the overall IR/BD team to manage all marketing/investor deliverables to support the coverage efforts across existing and prospective institutional and retail clients.

A successful candidate in this role will combine internal project management skills, strong asset management market knowledge, and have a natural aptitude for proactive business development efforts. The role will also give the candidate the ability to join a high-performing team of senior executives and be trained in all aspects of capital formation and business development within the alternative investment management industry. Moreover, the candidate will have the ability to establish relationships with several top global investors across pensions, endowments & foundations, asset managers, consultants, private banks and other intermediary channels.

Primary Responsibilities:

Complete marketing-related deliverables, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, presentations, and standard templates

Assist with pitchbooks, client requests, monthly reporting, and sales materials

Assist in all aspects of RFPs and work across the different functional teams within the organization to complete the final deliverable for the end client

Manage regulatory disclosures and filings in conjunction with the legal and compliance department

Coordinate and eventually lead all investor Operational Due Diligence processes, including data requests and on-site / virtual meetings

Maintain internal documentation including update FAQs, database population and website maintenance

Manage and take ownership of ad-hoc requests/projects that may require coordination with multiple internal and external stakeholders

Partner with senior BD/IR team members to cover domestic/international institutional investors, consultants, family office and private bank/RIA platforms.

Assist in completing investor-specific deliverables and one-off requests

Work with marketing team to respond to investor inquiries and track correspondence

Secondary Responsibilities:

Be immersed with the team during all stages of the sales cycle to drive sales in Carlson’s suite of investment solutions

Exhibit broad based market knowledge and show the ability to converse with clients on the current market environment and the firm’s suite of investment solutions

Demonstrate an understanding of the investment management landscape and understand the needs of the firm’s different types of clients

Assist senior BD/IR team members in expanding the firm’s client base by identifying sales opportunities and driving client engagement where possible

Leverage technology to streamline business processes and organize sales strategy

Maintain the accuracy of the Investor Relations team’s software applications, including the CRM, prospecting lists, and sales pipeline

Demonstrate strong organizational and territory-management skills, partnering with other IR/BD team members to ensure clients are covered in an efficient manner

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related fields; track record of academic achievement

2-4 years relevant work experience. Those with investment banking experience will have an advantage

Willing to complete CFA or CAIA designation within 2-3 years of joining the firm

Strategic thinker with excellent work ethic and can thrive in high pressure situations

Needs to have excellent project management, communication and organizational skills

Long term aspiration of being a capital markets oriented client facing IR/BD professional
