We are now looking for Portalis Project Officer: Marketing and Communications to join the Portalis project, based within the Institute of Education and Humanities (IEH) at our Lampeter campus, on a part-time, fixed-term contract, working 22.2 hours per week.
THE ROLE
As the Portalis Project Officer: Marketing and Communications, you will play a key role in contributing to the development of Portalis, particularly the online presence of the project.
Working alongside Portalis staff, you will will work in conjunction with partners to help establish the project website and social media channels and subsequently create compelling content to engage communities and tourists stemming from project activities, including the public archeology work and the network development initiatives.
As required, you will also help to ensure UWTSD and Portalis partners comply with various governance requirements in relation to the funding programme, with a particular focus on publicity and events.
THE PROJECT
Portalis, a four partner, 20 month, €1.952m Ireland Wales programme funded project led by Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT).
Portalis explores the earliest connection between Ireland and Wales dating back to the Early Mesolithic period, (Middle Stone Age), known for its great innovation and diversity. The project will do this by consolidating existing evidence and then providing and interpreting new data into an exciting cross-border narrative. The narrative will be developed into a powerful new visitor experience at two key museums, mapping the story of this first journey in the context of contemporary resilience and climate adaptation, for both local coastal communities and their visitors. To achieve this, partners will use a range of different techniques including drilled core sampling, excavation, lab analysis, citizen archaeology, visitor experience design (including film and virtual reality) and App design (including a 3D online exhibition).
ABOUT YOU
To be considered as the Portalis Project Officer: Marketing and Communications you will need:
A good honours degree OR equivalent work experience
Previous experience of marketing and publicity relating to printed, online and events.
Previous experience of creating content for marketing purposes, including photographic and video material.
Previous experience of using social media and web tools in business/ education/ project environments.
Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders and at all levels both internal and external to the organisation.
Excellent organisational skills including the ability to assess priorities and work independently without supervision and to plan, organise and prioritise own work on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
A willingness to support others, and to work effectively as part of a team.
High degree of professionalism and commitment to excellent customer service.
Experience in monitoring the quality of services and tasks to ensure that they are of the highest standards and in accordance with pre-determined parameters, for example within budget and on-time.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
Ability to deal confidentially with sensitive data.
Ability to apply attention to detail across a range of different tasks.
