Summary of Position
The Grants Manager increases the capacity of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. by managing foundation, corporate and government grants. The successful candidate will ensure that the Institute’s grants program aligns with our mission, vision and strategic plan, and supports our operational goals and annual budget.
The Grants Manager is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the entire grant application and management process including: reporting to funders, collaborating with program managers to develop budgets and reports, ensuring grant compliance, identification of potential funding sources, development of funding resources for existing and proposed programs, and writing grants. This position is part of the Development Team and contributes to selected major gift requests, special events, sponsorships and other community engagement events.
Qualifications
Required:
Two to five years of grant management experience
Demonstrated track record of winning grants of various sizes and complexities
Strong project management skills and accountability in meeting deadlines and juggling multiple projects
Excellent writing, analytical, and research skills
Ability to synthesize complex information and communicate it in a compelling and succinct form
Detail-oriented with the ability to keep accurate records
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
Self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
Enjoys collaborating and communicating with program managers, colleagues, board members, and external partners
Available for occasional weekend or evening work and travel within Washington State
Passion for the Institute’s mission to connect people, nature, and community
Commitment to contributing to a welcoming and inclusive work environment

Preferred:
Experience with Pacific Northwest foundations and grant agencies
Two years of other fundraising, marketing or writing experience
Familiarity with government agencies and government grants
Professional experience in the environmental or education fields
Use of Salesforce database and/or general database software knowledge/experience
Experience using research tools (such as GuideStar and Foundation Directory Online) to source and track prospect information
Exhibits keen cultural awareness and humility
Experience working with diverse constituents
Seeks and offers direct feedback with a growth mindset
Responsibilities
Foundation Grant Management (70%):
Manage the entire grants program from start to finish including prospect research, scheduling, writing proposals, tracking grant progress and budgets, writing reports, ensuring grant compliance, and stewarding relationships. Collaborate with program managers in gathering data and details about current and future programming. Assume lead role in writing, editing, and submitting reports and proposals. Build and maintain relationships with funders, including in-person meetings and facilitation of site visits. Assist program managers with participant surveys and data collection/analysis to create program reports. Collaborate with the development and leadership teams and to develop a strategic, productive approach to grant seeking. Work with the communications team to publicly acknowledge grants.
Corporate Relations (10%)
Coordinate the corporate relations program including; establishing and maintaining relationships with corporate funders, researching and developing sponsorship proposals, solicitations, reports, acknowledgement plans, and grow corporate revenue and in-kind contributions. Collaborate with the communications team to implement sponsorship benefits as appropriate. Work with program managers to maintain an inventory of programmatic supply and equipment needs.
Government Grant Management (10%)
Research, apply for, and maintain federal, state, tribal, and local government grants and support all of the grant management activities related to those grants. Work with North Cascades National Park Service Complex, Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, local tribes, and other Institute partners for pass-through and collaborative grant opportunities. Assist Program Managers and the Finance Director in grant tracking, compliance, and invoicing.
• Contribute to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Initiatives (10%): Support the Director of Inclusion and Community Partnerships, and the Institute’s equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives, via funding or other means. Actively foster a community that is welcoming and accessible to everyone. Develop personal EDI related goal(s) and track progress with your supervisor.
Compensation
This is a regular, full-time position primarily located at the Institute’s Sedro-Woolley office (with work-from-home options). The salary range is $46,000 to $53,000 annually based on level of experience. We offer a competitive compensation package including paid time-off, medical/dental insurance, long and short-term disability insurance, life insurance, tax-defined annuity and contribution retirement plan, and a yearly stipend to participate in Institute programs.
