Are you a communications professional with a passion for sustainability? Tyson is looking for an experienced communications leader with experience building/ improving a sustainability strategy to join the team in Springdale, Arkansas. Successful applicants will have experience advising, consulting executive team members surrounding environmental, animal welfare, and people impacts communication initiatives
Summary: The Head of Sustainability Communications will set the communications strategy for the sustainability portfolio and serve as the executive communications support for the Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO). In this capacity, you will set the communications strategy for all engagement around speaking engagements, media strategy and internal communications support for the CSO and the sustainability department.
Responsibilities:
Successful applicants must have an advanced understanding of the sustainability world as a whole, and specifically understand and navigate ESG, while being a technical expert on sustainability matters surrounding environmental, animal welfare and people impacts.
Additionally, you will manage a team member who is responsible for the daily execution of the sustainability communications strategy.
This Head of Sustainability Communications role reports to the Senior Director of Enterprise Communications.
This role will heavily leverage your ability to draft press releases, build proactive communications campaigns, navigate through the different Business Units across the company while promoting the agenda of the sustainability portfolio, and work in crisis situations, reacting to both the needs of the executive leadership while reacting to the needs of external media.
Requirements:
Education/Certifications: Bachelor or greater in PR, journalism, communications or other related field and 7 years experience
2-3 years experience building strategy for Sustainability or Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) REQUIRED
2 years creating ESG content
Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, and have a basic understanding of social media.
Communication Skills: Proficient in creating, editing, and overseeing the delivery of internal and external communications, proficient in media relations and comfortable in crisis communications.
Special Skills: Thorough understanding of sustainability / ESG communications practices
