We are a small marketing firm located in downtown Boston looking for an experienced freelance PR specialist to take on contract work for our clients. We have clients across New England, with a concentration in the metro-Boston area. Industry verticals include financial services, consulting, accounting, healthcare, education, non-profits, food and beverage, life sciences, and tech.
We are looking for a seasoned professional with experience in our geographic markets and industry verticals to work as a collaborative partner with our digital marketing and business strategy teams.
The ideal candidate is an organized and cool-tempered professional who is able to work effectively and collaboratively under pressure. We are looking for a strategic expert with excellent communication, project management, and client relationship skills. The PR Specialists goal is to cultivate positive public images for our clients.
PR responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Developing comprehensive PR and media relations strategies that work in synergy with marketing campaigns
Preparing press releases and executive communications
Building positive relationships with key stakeholders, local media, and the public
Quick and timely responses to issues relating to crisis and reputation mgmt
Securing earned media
Organizing media coverage for key events
Seeking opportunities for partnerships
Tracking media coverage
Reporting on KPIs to demonstrate value of PR efforts to clients
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Public Relations professional (5 years experience minimum)
Ideally a BSc/BA in PR, Journalism or Communications
Experience managing media relations (online, broadcast, and print)
Background in researching, writing and editing publications
Strong project management and organizational skills
Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
Creativity, problem-solving, strategic thinking
Ability to work well under pressure and strong work ethic
